Back to the water

After a sleepless night, the day finally
dawned and we were able to pull Searolf
out of  the industrial unit, ready for the great
journey.

One aspect which I cannot stress enough is
the need to keep the importance of weight
distribution in mind at all times during
fitting out. I had on many occasions worked
out the amount of weight and its distribution
and checked and re-checked at many
stages during the fitting out process.

Searolf rolls out of the industrial unit ready to be loaded onto a lorry
Searolf is finally lowered into the water where she belongs
At last Searolf is afloat and settles quickly into her proper environment
There was still a lot of work to do - you
know - small things like all the electrical
circuits, including batteries, piping up the
fuel and water tanks, connecting the
controls and fitting all the gauges, switches,
internal lights, along with brushing the floor
AND painting the sky blue.

BUT AT LEAST SHE WAS IN THE WATER !
LED Navigation lights

I was very interested in the use of LED lighting to save power, and I bought a set of  LED
replacement navigation light bulbs from a company in Australia.  They were expensive, but
with their low power requirements and 80 to 100 thousand hours life span looked good.
I now  have a company making these bulbs to a higher specification  for a  lower price,
and am pleased to offer them for sale - visit Searolf  LED on this site for details.

Now to be proved right or wrong
as Searolf was unloaded and once
again placed back in her rightful
environment.

As you can see from the photo,Searolf
floated on a nice level keel, but as we get
nearer to completion no doubt I will need
to add some ballast.
